Primal Cadence - DANCÆ
In conjunction with London Gallery Weekend, DANCÆ presents Primal Cadence as a series of site-responsive performances staged inside the exhibition Invasive Species, activating the gallery space and the works within it at No. 1 Poultry, Hypha Studios.
Primal Cadence considers the tension between primal instinct and the behavioural codes imposed by contemporary society. It moves through themes of excess, transgression, and release, positioning the dance floor as a space of collective surrender that resists utility and control. Within this framework, instinct becomes both disruptive and restorative. The piece invites audiences to reflect on what has been dulled or displaced in the process: our access to emotion, nuance, and instinct, while tracing the contradictions of contemporary expectations and the enduring pull of club culture.
