On March 7,8 & 13,14 , DANCÆ will present three choreographic pieces set within AUSGANG Studio's immersive installation. An accompanying fine art, photography and video exhibition will include works by Ana Mendieta, Hannah Wilke, Sven Marquardt and other notable artists.
About the Event
In Körperfabrik (Body Factory), both the performances and exhibition explore the body as a site of self-expression and a medium subject to control and commodification. Set in Kantgaragen, a former parking structure designed to regulate movement, the space mirrors how bodies are governed by societal constraints. Körperfabrik highlights moments of liberation, resilience, and the potential to transcend systemic pressures.
AUSGANG Studio
AUSGANG's multimedia installation, Tentacles, with its entanglement of lights and wires above the stage, acts as an ever-present surveillance system that disciplines the body and mind without the need for chains or bars. The dancers will interact with the installation, representing the individuals within society, constantly monitored by the gaze of cultural standards and social conformity.
The DANCERS
Anthony Nakhle is a multidisciplinary artist hailing from Beirut, Lebanon, and currently based in Berlin, Germany. His artistic vision is rooted in fostering interdisciplinary collaborations with creators across various mediums, including sound, sculpture, and stage design.
Alvin Collantes is a Filipino-Canadian dancer and choreographer whose work explores the emotional upheavals of assimilation through his artistic practice. His performances delve into themes of identity, social constructs, and the personal journey towards embracing the self, irrespective of societal norms
Ballet Sur_real, the official ballet ensemble of DANCÆ, focuses on combining ballet with electronic music, incorporating tech and new media installations and into their choreographic works.
Michel Foucault introduced the concept of heterotopia, depicting spaces where societal norms are momentarily suspended, allowing for a renegotiation of identity and freedom. In Ballet Sur_real's latest work, the dancers navigate their desires, limitations, and rebellions before a counter-culture back drop.

The Exhibition
The accompanying fine art, photography and video exhibition will showcase works by Ana Mendieta, Hanna Wilke and Sven Marquardt amongst others. With its focus on the body, the exhibition serves as a reflective mirror to the performances, emphasizing the body as a site where societal narratives are both inscribed and resisted.
